Discovering leadership traits in me

I will set the context here:

Of the five personality traits, I rated high on conscientiousness quite contrary to what I personally introspect about myself. This when I retested myself to Big Five Personality questionnaire.

If I introspect, I am frequently concerned about my impulses. Infact, ‘Impulsiveness’ is the most repeated word in my Journal while writing about my regrets and failures.

Earlier today, I was watching a Youtube Video on ‘Law of Attraction’. This video has nothing to do with what the Book ‘Secret’ or videos related to it talk.

A key takeaway for me was, “You do what you want, love, or feel acting upon. But don’t instruct nature to act on your requests. Work hard and with zero preconditions.”

Something similar is said in Bhagwad Gita, “Work hard but not expect rewards.” And, we can find so many other references that use different examples but messaging remains unchanged.

Coming to specifics:

The most common words to describe leadership, devoid of jargons, are:

a. Hard work

b. Authenticity

c. True-to-self

d. Awareness

e. Contemplative head, and

f. Carefree especially when ‘dealing with fear’.

All of the above are best used when expressed effectively. So communication is the foundation. But, it is important that it is not mistaken with oratory skills.

When I approach work, I try to be true to self. I do not have a facade different from what I am in reality. I engage rather than just interact. I try avoiding making guesses.

In nutshell, ‘authenticity’ is the most important thing to me. But how does workplace politics influences different leaders?

I just withdraw and find a new opportunity when I see it.
