One of my MBA batchmates visits me at the college. I was surprised and happy that he came to see me while I faired poorly in my socialization skills. We hardly talked much during our MBA years. But, he believes in staying connected and without the convenience of having a handphone.

He hinted at an Academic Associate role at IIM Indore that I could apply for. He had joined with the plan to pursue a doctoral program. I had planned for Ph.D. as well; I got married before my MBA, my spouse reasons that I did not learn what I should have learned from the program.

Hurried, anxious, and engaged at the job as a lecturer, I forgot to email my resume. A few weeks later, my friend visited home. He was heading to work and thought of picking a copy of my resume on the way. My spouse learned about my skills at procrastinating and ordered me to get it done in an instance while my friend finished his tea.

Despite missing the last date of application, my dear friend convinced HR at IIM Indore to consider my profile, and I appeared for the written test and interview.

I was hired.

PS: Connecting dots from the past, not so logically.
